Phuket Wedding Venues and Resorts: A Photographer's Guide
Where to marry in Phuket, from the photographer who has shot weddings at these venues since 2011.
Choosing a venue is usually the first big decision, and it shapes everything after it: the light, the guest list, the rain plan, even how the photos feel. I have photographed weddings across Phuket for more than fifteen years, and I live here, so this guide is based on weddings I have actually worked at, not a brochure.
Each venue below links to a real wedding I photographed there, so you can see how the place looks on the day, in real light, with real guests.
How to choose
Think about the month first.
Phuket’s high season runs roughly November to May. October is rainy season, and weddings still happen then. At one Sri Panwa wedding in October the day started sunny, a dark cloud rolled in around 4:30pm, and the ceremony went ahead with a plan ready. Link: Phuket October rain wedding at Sri Panwa. Whatever the month, get your rain plan agreed in writing.
Think about your guests.
A private villa suits a smaller, hands-on celebration. A resort suits bigger groups, guests who need rooms on site, and couples who want a team handling food, setup and logistics. Tell me your numbers and I will point you towards the right style of venue.
Think about the light.
I plan the day around the sun. Ceremonies about an hour before sunset are soft and flattering. Midday sun in Thailand is harsh on guests and on skin tones. Details: Thailand wedding photography schedule.

Venue by venue
Rosewood Phuket
Rosewood is one of my favourite wedding venues in Thailand. I have photographed couples here who flew in from Hong Kong and the United States, including weddings where two cultures came together in one day. If you are weighing it up, start with the Rosewood Hotel Phuket wedding case study.
Real weddings: Elise & Sidney, Jen & Charlie.
Sri Panwa
I have photographed weddings at Sri Panwa for more than ten years, and it suits couples who want something with character. A Baba Nest wedding I shot began with gate-crash games and a Chinese tea ceremony in the morning, then a western ceremony later, with guests flying in from Hong Kong, America, the UK and Canada. I have also photographed a same-sex wedding here and a rainy-season wedding where we carried on when the clouds rolled in.
Real weddings: Baba Nest, October rain, Doug & Raymond, Daniela & Ken.
Phuket Marriott Resort, Merlin Beach
A secluded beachfront setting with tropical gardens and sunset views across the water. It works well for couples who want a classic beach wedding with the resort’s facilities close at hand.
Real weddings: Brittany & Adam, Sonya & Charlie.
Thavorn Beach Village
Beach weddings with an intimate feel. Bridget and Danie’s small celebration here is a good example of why Phuket works for couples who want less formality.
Real weddings: Bridget & Danie, Sean & Ploy.
The Slate
One of the island’s most unusual venues, known for its artistic design, lush tropical setting and the Black Ginger restaurant. A Singapore couple chose it for a fun, stylish wedding, and I also shot a pre-wedding session here during rainy season.
Real weddings: Deb & Cedric, pre-wedding at The Slate.
SALA Phuket Resort and Spa
On the quiet stretch of Mai Khao Beach, SALA is calm and peaceful, which suits couples who want an elegant, low-key setting.
Real weddings: SALA Phuket wedding, Nat & Andrew.
Pullman Phuket Arcadia, Naithon Beach
A good fit for larger, international guest lists. I have photographed couples here from the US, the UK and Hong Kong, including a mixed-culture wedding where family flew in from around the world.
Real weddings: Anne & Raymond, Muz & Eva.
Villa Aye
A private luxury villa on a clifftop in Kamala, with panoramic sea views and an infinity pool. Popular for smaller, exclusive weddings.
Real weddings: Elaine & Victor, Villa Aye wedding.
The Naka Resort
One of my favourite resorts to photograph. I love it for the shade, shadows and highlights, which let me get creative with colour and contrast. The resort is in Patong (not to be confused with Naka Island). I have worked here with couples from Hong Kong and Singapore.
Real weddings: Charlene & Ray, Sam & Neal.
The Surin
Beachfront weddings with a character of their own. The Surin became known for Scottish mixed weddings, and I have photographed several, bagpipes on the sand included.
Real wedding: Lydia & Rob.
Sava Beach Villas
A villa wedding on Natai Beach with an early morning Sikh ceremony followed by a full western celebration. A good example of how a private villa handles more than one tradition in a day.
Real wedding: Sava Villa wedding.
Trisara
A wedding full of laughs, jokes and a few happy tears, with speeches that nobody forgot.
Real wedding: Tahnee & Ivan.
Planners and who I work with
Frequently asked questions
What is the best month for a Phuket wedding?
December to March is the most reliable. November to May is high season. October is rainy season, and weddings still go ahead with a rain plan.
What happens if it rains?
Keep going, with a plan. In my Sri Panwa October wedding a big dark cloud arrived near ceremony time and we adapted. Agree a rain plan in writing a month before.
Do we need a planner?
Not always, but for larger weddings or if you are planning from abroad, a local planner saves a lot of stress.
How much does a wedding photographer in Phuket cost?
Rates typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 USD, with full-day packages from $1,700 for experienced destination photographers. See my packages and pricing and the Thailand wedding cost FAQ.
How early should we book you?
For peak season, 9 to 12 months ahead. I accept 25 weddings a year, so popular dates go early.
Do you photograph at venues not on this list?
Yes. Tell me your venue and date and I will tell you if I am free.
