When Deb & Cedric traveled from Singapore to tie the knot in Phuket, they chose one of the island’s most unique venues — The Slate Hotel. Known for its artistic design, lush tropical setting, and the unforgettable Black Ginger restaurant, The Slate provided the perfect backdrop for their joyful, stylish, and laid-back destination wedding. As their photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing every sun-drenched, laughter-filled moment of the day.
Details
Deb and Cedric’s wedding day at The Slate Hotel in Phuket began with beautiful, meaningful details. We photographed their wedding rings, floral arrangements, wedding shoes, and a traditional Chinese red envelope — each item a small part of their story. The details told us so much about their style: elegant with a hint of tradition and playfulness. The vibrant florals popped against the tropical greens, setting the tone for the celebration ahead.
Getting Ready & Portraits
As the sun rose over Phuket, the day turned hot and bright — classic island weather. Deb got ready in one of The Slate’s gorgeous suites, surrounded by her bridesmaids and lots of laughter. Her calm energy and graceful presence made for stunning bridal portraits, while Cedric kept things light-hearted with his groomsmen. Their excitement was contagious, and as a photographer, it’s a gift to capture those unscripted, emotional moments before the ceremony.
The Ceremony
Held on the expansive lawn of The Slate, their ceremony was both relaxed and heartfelt. One of the cutest moments was the flower girl making her way down the aisle, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. Despite the tropical heat, the couple and guests kept the mood light with humor and a laid-back vibe — it was clear everyone was there to have a good time and celebrate love. The exchange of vows under the open sky made the moment even more powerful.
Bridal Party & Couple Portraits
After the ceremony, we took advantage of the resort’s lush lawn for bridal party and couple portraits. The chemistry between Deb and Cedric was effortless — full of laughter, teasing, and quiet connection. The bridesmaids and groomsmen brought great energy, and we captured some truly fun group shots that reflected the upbeat spirit of the day.
Sunset Portraits on the Beach
As the sun began to dip, we walked down to the nearby beach for golden hour portraits. This is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day — a bit of quiet, a little escape, and stunning natural light. Deb’s gown flowed beautifully in the ocean breeze, and Cedric couldn’t take his eyes off her. Against the backdrop of the Andaman Sea, we captured some of the most romantic moments of the day.
The Dinner Reception
The evening reception took place at Black Ginger, one of the most iconic restaurants at The Slate Hotel. Surrounded by a moody, jungle-inspired setting, guests enjoyed an unforgettable dinner under the stars. The night was packed with fun — from a lively photobooth and heartfelt speeches to spontaneous rap performances by guests. It was the perfect way to end a day filled with love, laughter, and personality.
